This Winter quarter we will be exploring technologies to enhance learning through the use of various technologies that are available online, from Wikis to social networking. This will be substantially different than what was explored this past summer, so no worries for those of you who were in my summer section. This course will be taught using the Moodle course management system. This is a new and exciting teaching tool for web enhanced and hybrid learning that is being adopted in K-12 across the US. As part of the course we will be examining the use of the system itself in making courses available at school and as a part of a web enhanced classroom experience. Since Moodle has no cost it can be implemented on a school site without additional funding. For further information on Moodle, please have a look at this link: http://www.k12opentech.org/implementation-study-3-moodle . It is my hope that by the end of the course students will have agood grasp of the kinds of collaboration tools on the Internet and how to implement them in a classroom or lab setting including eportfolio systems and quizzing engines.
